Federal Talent Search Program GrantDiscretionary Program Program Description: The Wisconsin Federal Talent Search Program Grant is a broadly based, comprehensive statewide program designed to seek first-generation students with academic potential from multicultural and disadvantaged backgrounds and encourage them to complete high school and pursue postsecondary education. The primary purpose of a talent search grant is to provide services to persons residing in a discrete geographic area or attending schools located in that area. Northern Regional Wisconsin Educational Opportunity Programs (WEOP) offices in Ashland, Eau Claire, Green Bay, and Wausau administer federal talent search services. The program provides academic, personal, and career counseling to students enrolled in participating middle and high schools associated within the target area. Amount of Funds Available: $245,356 per year for four years beginning Fiscal Year 2002 Legislation: Talent Search Program is authorized under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965.
