There have been many changes in tobacco prevention, including the state of Wisconsin going smoke free. This webpage is provided as a resource to school districts or anyone working with youth in tobacco prevention.

Building Skills for Health Literacy Training

The face of health education is changing; will you be along for the ride as we move health into the 21st century? The Building Skills for Health Literacy training explores strategies for teaching and assessing for the skills of the health education standards. Participants will explore skill-based units of instruction in health content areas such as tobacco, human sexuality, nutrition, and mental health. Attendees will also get a sneak peek at the new Wisconsin Health Education Standards and explore the role of standards in skill-based instruction and assessment!

Health educators, ATODA coordinators, counselors, administrators, and anyone interested in health literacy are invited to attend one of the following three opportunities. Fee: $50-includes morning refreshments, lunch, materials, and one graduate credit. Information Sheet

Cigarette sales are decreasing, but the tobacco industry has another strategy to line their pockets. They’re using candy-flavored smokeless tobacco products to attract new users. These other tobacco products (OTP) include snus, dissolvables and other products.
