Indicator 7
Indicator 7 measures the percent of preschool children with disabilities aged 3 through 5 who demonstrate improved: (a) positive social-emotional skills (including social relationships); (b) acquisition and use of knowledge and skills (including early language/communication and early literacy); and (c) use of appropriate behaviors to meet their needs. All LEAs with children aged 3 through 5 participate in this activity annually.

Beginning July 1, 2011, all districts participate in the collection of data for this indicator every year. Entry data is collected on all preschool-age children who initially enter special education in the district during the year. Exit data for all these children is collected when they exit from preschool programs or turn age 6.

Available to school districts only. To be used to submit data for Indicator 7 (Preschool Outcomes Reporting).

  The Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (CSEFEL) is focused on promoting the social emotional development and school readiness of young children birth to age 5. CSEFEL is a national resource center funded by the Office of Head Start and Child Care Bureau for disseminating research and evidence-based practices to early childhood programs across the country.
