WSAS Record Editing System (RES) Training 2012

Districts have an opportunity to review student demographics and testing status during the WSAS Record Editing System (RES) window from 8:00 a.m. January 11 until noon on January 20, 2012. This is a district’s final chance to ensure that all students who were tested appear as tested, that all students in their district are accounted for, that no students were inadvertently opted-out, etc. There will be a field to indicate whether or not each student was tested, and which test was used (WKCE or WAA-SwD).

RES is the final opportunity for districts to ensure that data used by the DPI for reporting and accountability are accurate and complete.

A Mediasite training was recorded in January of 2010 providing information on verifying and updating (if necessary) your WSAS student records through RES. A few minor cosmetic changes were made to the RES for 2012, but a new training was not recorded. The training link below will provide you with information on how to use the RES, but the dates within the training are from 2010. The PowerPoint presentation has been updated for 2012. If you have questions about how to use the RES please call Phil Cranley in the Office of Educational Accountability at 1-(608)-266-9798.

The Mediasite training covers:

  • Key cleanup fields
  • Access to RES
  • Making corrections ONLINE
  • Downloading data for correction
  • Contacting DPI/CTB with Questions.

Special note about race/ethnicity categories for WSAS: You will notice in RES (and in all WSAS reporting) that the racial/ethnic categories used are the same as they have been since WSAS data were first reported. Although race/ethnicity is now collected in a new way, the WSAS reports will not be changed until our current testing contract expires. For more on race/ethnicity data collection and reporting see: http://dpi.wi.gov/lbstat/datarac.html

For specific information about “bridging” the new data collection race/ethnicity codes to the “old” race/ethnicity categories see: http://dpi.wi.gov/lbstat/doc/dpi_race_ethnicity_bridge.doc
