Wisconsin User ID Web Access Management System (WAMS) Question and Answer



  1. Why do I need a Web Access Management System (WAMS) also known as a Wisconsin User ID?

    1. The WAMS ID is a secure user ID and password that is needed to access various applications in the department because of student privacy, confidentiality of student data, state and federal privacy laws, district regulations, policies and procedures established to maintain the confidentiality of student data.       A sampling of some department applications, that uses the WAMS ID are: Delegated Authority Application, Wisconsin Student Locator Number System (WSLS), Individual Student Enrollment System (ISES), Multi-Dimensional Analytic Tool (MDAT), and the Longitudinal Data System (LDS).


  2. How do I create a Web Access Management System (WAMS) ID?

  3. I had a WAMS account but have not used the account within 26 months. What is needed on my part?

    1. You will need to create a new WAMS ID because your account has been archived. For specific instructions see Creating a WAMS ID. DO NOT USE your previous WAMS ID because the system will not recognize your new account.


  4. How do I find out if I have a WAMS ID?

    1. Contact the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction at 608/267-3166 or dpistats@dpi.wi.gov.


  5. How do I update/modify information in my WAMS account?

    1. If you remember your password, go to the website https://on.wisconsin.gov/WAMS/home. Scroll down to Profile Management and click on the hyperlink Profile Management. For specific instructions click Profile Management here.

    2. If you DO NOT remember your password, go to the website https://on.wisconsin.gov/WAMS/home. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on Help Wisconsin Support. For specific instructions click Help Wisconsin Support here.


  6. My WAMS account is locked. What is needed to correct the issue?

    1. Go to the website https://on.wisconsin.gov/WAMS/home. Scroll down to Account Recovery hyperlink. For specific instruction click Account Recovery here.


  7. I had a WAMS ID from a previous district and I remember my password. How do I update/modify my WAMS information for the new district?

    1. See number 5A above.


  8. I had a WAMS ID from a previous district, but I DO NOT remember my WAMS information.

  9. How do I create a new password if I do not remember my password?

    1. Go to the website https://on.wisconsin.gov/WAMS/home. Scroll down to the Account Recovery hyperlink. For specific instruction click Account Recovery.


  10. I performed an account recovery, and when I click on the link in the email I received an error. What is needed to correct this issue?

    1. Go to the website https://on.wisconsin.gov/WAMS/home. Scroll down to Help Wisconsin Support hyperlink. For specific instruction click Help Wisconsin here.


  11. My email address is incorrect, and I DO NOT remember my password. How do I update the email address?
