School Enrollment Data: 11/24/04 Memo to WSLS/ISES Administrators
To: WSLS/ISES Administrators and all WSLS Primary and Secondary Contacts We know that over the past few days districts have been working to update their WSLS data so we thought updated drafts of the preliminary enrollment counts might be useful. These new drafts are based on WSLS as of 11/23 AM. The last version was posted on 11/17 and reflected WSLS data as of 11/12 AM. Because of the timeline associated with the review of these data (we plan to publish in early December) and because email is not always reliable, we thought it would be a good idea to send this to all WSLS primary and secondary contacts in addition to all local WSLS/ISES Administrators. We'll send one more set of draft counts early next week (maybe Tuesday or Wednesday) before the preliminary enrollment counts are published. Note that the 11/23 drafts include students whose estimated grades are outside the low-high grade span of their assigned school so total school enrollment counts may have changed since 11/12 based on this fact alone. Future drafts and the Preliminary Reports will also include these students. Columns have been added to the draft "Preliminary Enrollment by District by School by Estimated Grade" report to include students who are below or above the typical ages for the school based on grade span your district submitted in the PI- 1280. Please pay particular attention to counts in these columns to verify that students have been moved to the correct 2004-05 schools. Please do not rely on total school enrollment counts alone to verify your data. Student level records need to be associated with the appropriate 2004-05 school for ISES purposes. Links to the draft counts are provided below: Draft Preliminary 2004-05 Public Enrollment by District by School by Gender Draft Preliminary 2004-05 Public Enrollment by District by School by Ethnicity Draft Preliminary 2004-05 Public Enrollment by District by School by Estimated Grade Public Enrollment Comparison by District by School by Grade: Final 2003-04 vs Draft Preliminary 2004-05 Please read the "Data Changes" spreadsheet included in each of the files listed above for explanations and tips for reviewing the data. If you believe these draft data are wrong, then local action is generally required; please work with your local WSLS/ISES Administrator. If you have questions about this email or next steps, then send email to dpistats@dpi.wi.gov or call 800-507-5744. We'll help you in any way we can. There will be no one at the 800 number on Friday (this is a holiday for our contractor) but someone will be checking the dpistats email so if you are working on Friday and have questions, then send email. Submit questions, comments, and suggestions about the WSLS or ISES to dpistats@dpi.wi.gov or call 1-800-507-5744. Submit questions regarding the ESEA Report Card Requirements to dpieseadata@dpi.wi.gov. For help with this page contact the DPI Helpdesk Expert Last updated on 2/28/2008 7:56:14 AM |
