WSLS SPRING MAINTENANCE TASKS FOR DISTRICTS - RACE / ETHNICITY
A recording of the WSLS Spring Race / Ethnicity Training session is available for review. We request that staff unable to attend the April or May sessions review the recording for valuable information regarding the upcoming transition.
Preparing for the transition:
- Does you district have system in place or a plan to identify racial and ethnic categories according to the new 2 question format for all students continuing and new for the 2010-11 school year?
- If you answered 'No' to this question, then your district may have exiting tasks which need to be completed prior to 6/30/2010. Please review the WSLS training session listed in the first paragraph.
- There will NOT be an automatic conversion from old racial and ethnic categories within the WSLS to the new categories. Does you district have a plan to transfer the new racial and ethnic information from your local system into the WSLS for ALL continuing and new students for 2010-11?
- If you answered 'No' to this question, then your district should begin planning as soon as possible. ISES 3rd Friday of September and Child Count records will not be allowed to lock if the associated WSLS enrollment period is missing the new racial and ethnic categories.
- If your district attempts to take assignment of new students between now and 6/30/2010, you must complete the match review process for all students on or prior to 6/30/2010 such that the message 'There are no Students With Possible Matches for your selection' is displayed on the top half of the match review screen (Match Review - File Upload & Mass Entry).
- Monitor Exit Confirmation Requests from other districts and respond to these as quickly as possible such that the other districts may complete their own work by 6/30/2010.
- As part of this transition, the WSLS / ISES Help Desk is NOT suggesting that SIS roll-over be completed prior to 6/30/2010. Such a roll-over could have many unwanted consequences. Please contact your vendor or the WSLS / ISES Help Desk if you have questions regarding your roll-over process.
Please send questions or concerns to the WSLS/ISES Help Desk via the on-line tool.
