Initial ISES Data Past Due

DATE: May 2, 2005 (Email)
TO: District Administrators
FROM: Anthony S. Evers, Deputy State Superintendent
Department of Public Instruction
SUBJECT: Initial ISES Data Past Due

(Sent only to districts that have not locked their district data as of Monday AM.)

The PI-1290 Fall Enrollment Collection was replaced for the 2004-05 school year by the Individual Student Enrollment System (ISES) and had a submission deadline of April 29, 2005. ISES is required in order to meet the public reporting and accountability requirements of NCLB.

At this point your district has not completed submitting your data. State-wide validations on the data cannot be run until all required data has been submitted.

Delaying this data collection makes it difficult for budget planning, and also affects the availability of dropout and high school completion rates for the 2003-04 Wisconsin School Performance Report. Once all the data has been submitted, state-wide validations on the data will be run and the system will be re-opened for a two-week review and revision period.

Please complete your initial submission of ISES data as soon as possible, and send email to dpistats@dpi.wi.gov if you anticipate further delays. If you are having difficulties with the reporting process, ISES phone support is available at (800) 507-5744. Detailed information about ISES also is available at http://dpi.wi.gov/lbstat/isesapp.html.

ISES implementation is a challenge for all of us. The system has been designed to help minimize the local impact of growing data reporting mandates. The fall enrollment report and portions of the Wisconsin School Performance Report collection (attendance, retention, dropouts, and high school completion) have already been eliminated. We are committed to further consolidating data collections over time. This Spring timeline applies only to this year, and we expect the ISES timeline to move to fall reporting as of 2005-06 school year.

Thank you for your attention today to this time-sensitive matter. We appreciate your district's efforts to make this transition a success. DPI will help you and your staff any way we can.
