MAINTAINING, COLLECTION, AND REPORTING RACIAL AND ETHINIC DATA

Final Guidance from the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) requires significant changes for school districts and the WI DPI regarding racial and ethnic data. WI DPI is in the process implementing changes outlined to comply with federal guidance, dpi.wi.gov/lbstat/datarac.html. As the WSLS and ISES prepare for transition to the new race / ethnicity format, we will communicate changes which affect school districts. This email includes information important for file upload to the WSLS and ISES on-line data collections.

WSLS INTERFACE SPECIFICATIONS:

The file layouts for Locate / Assign, Exit / Update, and file download, dpi.wi.gov/lbstat/wsnspec.html, within the WSLS will be changing in July 2010. Watch for information regarding spring training opportunities.

ISES INTERFACE SPECIFICATIONS:

The interface specifications, dpi.wi.gov/lbstat/isesspec.html, have been posted for 3rd Friday of September, Year End, Discipline, and October 1 Child Count.

The data validation business rules have not yet been posted.

ISES training sessions will be held in August 2010. The training locations and dates will be released when on-line registration is available.
